Hi, I'm Karen Irwin, owner and founder of The Crate Escape.
I worked in London for an Insurance Broker specialising in Medical Malpractice for 17 years and one day I decided that life was far too short to be so unhappy in your job. So I decided to pursue my true passion in life and my dream of working with dogs.
I founded The Crate Escape in 2011 and have subsequently obtained a Diploma in Canine Psychology from Open College, as well as a Diploma in Canine Behaviour from The International School for Canine Psychology & Behaviour (ISCP). I am also extremely proud to be a 1-2-1 tutor for the ISCP.
I am qualified in Pet First Aid and am also fully insured with Cliverton.
I am a member of various organisations, such as The Association of INTO Dogs (Friend) and Pet Dog Trainers of Europe (Associate Member). I am also a Professional Member and Benefactor of the Dog Welfare Alliance. I also support other organisations such as Yellow Dog UK, so please see the 'Links' section on my website for further details regarding all of these incredible organisations.
I regularly attend seminars and educational events to ensure that I keep up to date with the latest research and development in dog behaviour and the canine world. I am currently studying an Advanced Diploma in Canine Behaviour with The International School for Canine Psychology & Behaviour and a Health & Nutrition Diploma with the British College of Canine Studies.
I live in Orsett, Essex with my partner Paul, our three dogs Dylan (Dalmatian), Lexi (Chocolate Labrador) and Perdy (Black Labrador), Lorelai the tortoise, Cinnamon, Pumpkin and Rayna our rabbits and two fish! As you can see, I am a true animal lover.
